This 1970s rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber is loosely based on the Gospels' account of the last week of Jesus's life. It centers on the psychology of the characters and focuses on Judas in particular. Contemporary attitudes, sensibilities, and slang pervade the rock lyrics, and ironic allusions to modern life are scattered throughout the depiction of political events.
Content Warning: Jesus Christ Superstar features sensitive material and intense sequences,
including physical violence.
Recommended for ages 12 and up.
