Wow - I never saw this picture! I am on the balcony in the orange "costume". This brings back memories!!!! - Sandy Busgen Burke ("Beatrice")
Don and I are on the left side of the photo, the Governor and Angel. That is where we met and the rest is history! We just celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary :)
This show was fun from beginning to end because of the subject matter, and the people who were in it. Everything about it bordered on the ridiculous, so who was I to not follow suit. When we were nearing the show's closing and were thinking of gifts for the director, and fellow cast members, I was asked to create some artwork for Tom Crane, our music director, so I used a photo of him leading the orchestra in western costume to make a watercolor portrait. His wife, Pat played Miss Mona to my Sheriff Ed Earl, who should have been long married if not for her livelihood as a Madam, and his job as a lawman, so they had a long term, supposedly secret relationship that often took them to the bedroom. Off stage I called this "Good Old Girl" Miss Moaner, and she called me Dead Earl. I wanted to give Pat a present too, so one night I came up with an idea that had me laughing all the time I was making it. With all sense of good taste forgotten, I got a large piece of balsa wood, carved and sanded it, painted it silver and engraved it with the words... "Something to remember me by" and presented her with a 14 inch bullet! It got some great laughs... and one comment I still don't understand... "Dream on!"
Thank you for putting this photo up. I've never seen it before either; and I have no pics of this play. I'm on the top step in the pink and black on the left.
We were in a parade to promote the show, which was so much fun.
