Catherine has spent the last several years of her young adult life caring for her brilliant, but mentally unstable mathematician father, Robert, until his recent death. Adjusting to life without him, Catherines thoughts are complicated by the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire and the attentions of Hal, a former student of Roberts, who wants to go through his abandoned notebooks in search of valuable mathematical work. Though Catherine finds him attractive, she wonders whether he may only be out to further his career. When Hal discovers a mysterious notebook among Roberts work, Catherine is forced to confront her fathers legacy. How much of his genius and, ultimately, his madness has she inherited? |
